Roberto Clemente Jr., the son of Hall of Fame baseball player and Pittsburgh Pirate beloved outfielder, has joined Mannatee Films producing team as a Co-Producer for its upcoming comedy, Roberto’s Friend. The present day family-friendly comedic fantasy is a cross between Bad News Bears and Field of Dreams.
Robert Mann, Mannatee Films’ President and Director of Roberto’s Friend, visited Mr. Clemente in Pittsburgh a few months ago. Mr. Clemente and the Clemente family are 100% behind the project and have given the production team its full endorsement.
Currently, Mr. Clemente and Mr. Mann are strategizing on how to bring this “family-friendly” comedy to broad audiences who enjoy both family and comedic films. MLB could play an important role not only as sponsors, but also its fans, who continue to love and admirer the Pittsburgh Pirate baseball legend, Roberto Clemente. Producers are targeting summer of 2024 to begin production.
